Road Trip!
Happy Monday to everyone out in cyberspace!!
The Gulland family headed out on the road this weekend to Iowa City. Ed got off work early on Friday, so we were able to make it to Ed's dad's house by supper time. We spent the evening on the plaza in downtown Iowa City. They were having a blues festival. There sure were a lot of good musicians.
Saturday was a scorcher for the Midwest. You would think that we would have stayed inside in the airconditioning, but David would not have any of that. He played outside for the majority of the day in a little swimming pool and with the water hose. Thankfully Jim's yard has a lot of trees which provided wonderful shade and a bit of relief from the heat.
On Sunday, we went to a new church in Coralville (it is a town right next to Iowa City). The church is called Life Church. It just started in November 2005. The people in the congregation are hungry for God and the pastors are on fire for the Lord. It was AWESOME to see!!! Their mission is "to help people become fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ and in the process discover a life of adventure and purpose." Check out their website at www.LifeChurchNow.org.
After church we headed back to Jim's for lunch before making the trip home. I actually put David's blanket over my window because the sun beaming in was not helping me stay cool in the car. It probably doesn't help either that we have gray leather interior!!
Last night when we were watching the news at 10:00 pm it was still 90 degrees outside. The news anchor said that this is the third hottest July on record for the Twin Cities. Good thing we have a summer pass to Elm Creek Park. We will be spending a lot more time at the beach!!! What do you like to do to keep cool when the temperature heats up in the summer?
