Hurrican Rita & Evacuation

Hello everyone!

Sorry I haven't written in a while. I received an unexpected phone call from my mom on Monday night at 9:30 pm. She wanted me to pick her and my nephew, Alex, up at the airport on Tuesday morning at 11:15 am. We have had company since Tuesday morning, and it has been most enjoyable!! They will be staying with us until this Tuesday. Then my mom and Alex are going up to my Uncle Bill and Aunt Ila's house for a while.

My mom and Alex are in Minnesota because my dad told them to get out of Texas because of Hurricane Rita. Many of you know that my sister, Jessica, and my brother-in-law, Chris, live in League City, Texas. They have boarded up their house and Chris' parents (Larry and Linda) house. They have all evacuated and headed away from the Houston area about five hours. My Uncle Don (my mom's brother) and Aunt Lynne live in Missouri City, Texas. They have not evacuated but are far enough inland that they do not need to (I guess). I don't know alot about hurricanes and evacuations. The last time I was in a hurricane was when I was like five or six years old. The only thing I remember about it was going to a friend's house in the country and all the kids sleeping in the hallway with every single door shut that was connected to the hallway.

David and Alex have been playing really well together. Alex is four years old, and David is 3 1/2 years old. My mom is planning on visiting some friends this weekend, so she can have a break. She has had Alex and been his primary caregiver for four weeks by herself.

Here are some prayer requests that I have:

1. Pray that my mom will have a refreshing and relaxing weekend.
2. Pray for my family in Texas that they will be safe and protected from the storm.
3. Pray for my family's homes in Texas that they will be protected from the storm.
4. Pray that Ed and I have peace and patience this weekend since we will be watching both boys.
5. Pray that the boys continue to play well together and to share.
6. Pray for my sister, Dawn, who lives in Mississippi. She is wanting to get transferred out of the school district she works at and work at a closer one. Please pray that she is able to leave her current school district without any problems and move to one closer to her home.
